What is contractor opportunity intelligence?

Contractor opportunity intelligence is the process of turning fragmented construction project and procurement information into company-specific pursuit decisions.

The short answer

Instead of stopping at “here are projects in your area,” contractor opportunity intelligence evaluates which jobs fit the contractor's trades, capabilities, geography and readiness; ranks what deserves attention; identifies unresolved qualification gates; and monitors important projects for meaningful changes.

Why contractors need a decision layer

Construction opportunity data is fragmented across public procurement sites, plan rooms, agency pages, bid notices and project records. Aggregating those sources solves discovery, but it does not fully solve pursuit. A contractor still has to decide whether the project is relevant, whether the company can qualify, what to do next and whether the project later changed.

What inputs matter?

What should the output look like?

A useful output is not simply a score. It should explain what deserves action, why, what remains uncertain and the next recommended verification step. Hard Hat Radar uses action-oriented categories such as ACT TODAY, PURSUE NOW and VERIFY FIRST to keep the system tied to contractor workflow.

Is this the same as lead generation?

No. Lead generation is usually about identifying potential customers or projects. Opportunity intelligence adds decision support: fit, pursuit timing, qualification, uncertainty and ongoing monitoring.
